It’s release roundup time here at Percona!We publish quite a few updates to our software and services, so we wanted to make it a little easier for you to keep track of our latest releases. Today’s post includes Percona releases and updates from the last few weeks over the holidays. Every few weeks, each roundup showcases the latest in software updates, tools, and features to help you manage and deploy our software, with highlights and critical information, as well as links to the full release notes and direct links to the software or service itself.
In this edition, we highlight a logApplicationMessage command bug fix for Percona Server for MongoDB, the addition of the alternative installation methods for Percona Monitoring and Management, and improvements to Percona Kubernetes Operator for Percona XtraDB Cluster.
Percona Server for MongoDB 4.2.2-3
On December 24, 2019, Percona Server for MongdoDB 4.2.2-3 was released. It includes all of the features of MongoDB 4.2 Community Edition, including distributed transactions and wildcard indexes. In this release, bug PSMDB-473 was fixed, where the logApplicationMessage command failed even when it was run by the user with extended privileges. The problem has been fixed to allow running the logApplicationMessage command by any role that has the applicationMessage privilege, such as clusterManager or hostManager.

Percona Monitoring and Management 2.2.0
Also on December 24, 2019, we released Percona Monitoring and Management 2.2.0. It is a free and open-source platform for managing and monitoring MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL performance. Major improvements in this release include the addition of the alternative installation methods available for PMM 1.x, the settings dashboard allows configuring PMM Server via the graphical interface, and AWS RDS and remote instances monitoring have been re-added in this release to include AWS RDS MySQL/Aurora MySQL instances, and remote PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and ProxySQL ones.

Percona Kubernetes Operator for Percona XtraDB Cluster 1.3.0
January 6, 2020, saw the release of Percona Kubernetes Operator for Percona XtraDB Cluster 1.3.0. This is now the current GA release in the 1.3 series. Some new features and improvements include auto-Tuning of the MySQL Parameters based on Pod memory resources, a 40-60% reduction in backup image size for Percona XtraDB Cluster, ProxySQL, and the ability for users to adjust securityContext, replacing the automatically generated securityContext with the customized one.
